3-05-09 ChapelHill baseball in Bayou State Tourney

Description: Chapel Hill travelled to Monroe, LA, to participate in the 2009 Bayou State Prep Classic Tournament. The tournament featured St. Frederick, Riverside, Vermilion Catholic, Oak Grove, Ouachita Christian, St. Charles Catholic, Calvary Baptist, Bastrop, Menard, Sterlington, John Curtis, Eunice, and, Mangham High Schools in addition to Chapel Hill. The Bulldogs' first game pitted them against Oak Grove at 7:30 PM on Thursday, March 5th at the Sterlington Baseball Field. The second game was against St. Frederick at 5:15 PM on Friday, March 6th, at the St. Frederick diamond. Saturday saw the Bulldogs playing two games: a Noon game versus Bastrop at the St. Frederick field and a 5:00 PM game against Sterlington at the Sterlington field. On Friday, all the players were treated to a fish fry. Coach Grubbs coached in this area before coming to Chapel Hill and the team has always received a most friendly welcome from the Louisiana team. Chapel Hill is the only out-of-state team that was extended an invitation to participate in this tournament.
