Description: Beginning Sunday night, Sept. 6, 2009, through Monday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2009, the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon was broadcast on KETK NBC 56 in Tyler. Countless volunteers donated untold hours to insure the success of the event. KETK 56 news personalities hosted the live event. Moneys raised are used locally to provide wheelchairs, medications, camp, patient services to East Texas MDA patients. Manning the phone bank for a two-hour period were volunteers from Brookshire's, Kohl's, and Sonic. Brookshire Store Director from the Gladewater store, Gene Walker, was on hand to present a check for ,000, representing the amount raised locally by the mobile sales in BGC stores.
