09-23-09 Prayer For Troubled Students
- Date: September 23, 2009
- Description: Less than two hours before the fatal stabbing of John Tyler High School teacher Todd Henry on Sept. 23, 2009, Smith County students were praying in the early morning hours for the opportunity and courage to reach out to their classmates whose “drama” – teen talk for “troubles” – was disturbing young lives. More than 100 students at Lindale High School gathered in solidarity with millions of Christian students across America to pray for their nation, state, classmates and teachers at the annual See You At The Pole (SYATP) prayer watch. “There is so much drama (trouble) in the lives of some of the students,” said student Andrea Crawley, 17. “People that are fighting and talking about each other, giving each other a hard time, and making their lives miserable. It’s hard to see that and not try to do something about it." Photographs in this gallery were taken by Tyler Morning Telegraph religion editor Patrick Butler.
